A Conversation about the Role of Clean Energy in the Environmental Justice Movement
On June 24, 2021, the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of Young Professionals in Energy (YPE) will host a panel about the role of clean energy in the environmental justice movement. A just transition to clean energy means that frontline communities not only have access to clean energy, but also that they have a seat at the table and that their needs are centered in all decision-making. YPE is bringing together leaders involved in research, advocacy, and grassroots organizing working to advance environmental justice at the state and local level:
Andres Soto, Communities for a Better Environment
Devin Murphy, Pinole City Councilmember and Environmental Justice Advocate
Jessica Tovar, East Bay Clean Power Alliance and Local Clean Energy Alliance
Jose Torres, Building Decarbonization Coalition
Ms. Margaret Gordon, West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project
